Saying yes to everything is an enjoyable act of malicious compliance.
I can say yes to any pronoun and name and loo. And to me this represents a resistance of the heteronormative society we live in. To me it represents gender fluidity and freedom.
The confusion it creates is a flipping of the power dynamic that usually goes on. It makes some people uncomfortable and that’s the point.
Increasingly so, we live in a world where “everything is known”. All our data is amassed and collected and analysed precisely. And with the internet and artificial intelligence in hand, we assume that we can “know anything”. And it feels good to be an unknown— unfixed point in all of that.
Is it real? Do I really feel like that, or is it just a performance? And is there any difference? And does it matter?
